Christmas Hours

Christmas week, Shop open WED 9.30-5.30pm and THURS 9.30-12.30pm. Food Box deliveries will be one day earlier than normal, and then we break until Monday 11th January.

Bushfire Appeal


For at least the next month, 50% of all profits on wholefoods and dry goods from your food box orders will be donated to the Australian Red Cross bushfire appeal.

This includes rice, flour, tea, coffee, juices, chocolate, cereals, museli, dried fruit etc. (but doesn't include milk, bread or eggs).

This will also apply to any wholefoods purchased in our store at Campbells Creek.

Tickets are selling well for the “Gigging 4 Gabe” music night. Contact Graham or Bree for details and bookings.

An “almost house concert” featuring local songwriter Caithlin Meave.

A fundraiser to send young Gabe (the tireless washer of your empty food boxes) to Singapore for an international soccer competition.

Sprout Sourdough - 2 for $9

Order any two loaves of Sprout Bakery Sourdoughs for only $9.

Now only available outside of Castlemaine through the Food Garden, this wonderful bread is baked fresh daily and is available on all food box days, Monday to Friday.

The Future of Food – showing at Food Garden, Tuesday 27th May and 3rd June, 6.45pm

THE FUTURE OF FOOD will be shown upstairs at The Food Garden on Tuesday 27th May and 3rd June, 6.45pm. Soup (vegan and organic) and bread will be served, and a speaker from Gene Ethics will attend.

Entry is by gold coin donation, and any proceeds will be donated to Castlemaine Community House and Gene Ethics.

CHOICE Says Consumers Should Buy Organic

CHOICE Magazine says they tested 31 samples of strawberries from around Australia, apart from Tasmania and South Australia and found pesticide residue on all of them, some at concerning levels. Zinn says if possible consumers should buy organic, even though they are most expensive. Zinn says some researchers believe that long term exposure to pesticides could increase the risk of some cancers in people and impair development in children. Source: Media Monitors 2008

Newstead LIVE!
